One of my favorite quotes are "If you want your children to improve let them over hear the nice things you say about them to others"-By Haim Grott
This quote is my favorite because I believe that it is important to embrace the positive qualities that a child has. I believe embracing those qualities will bring out the best in them.

This is a very neat statement that I have not heard of regarding my children. However, I know that in many of the marriage studies I have done, it is the same concept of speaking highly of your spouse when they are around to hear you. If it works for your marriage, I'm sure it would work for your kids! This is one I'm going to keep in mind when I'm speaking about my daughter around others!! :) Thanks for sharing!
Shevia,
I really liked your quote!

I have never heard that quate before! I think is is wonderful, reminds me of catching a child being good. Young children often want to please adults in authoratative rolls. In my classroom I found that asking the students what the correct action is often allow for self-correcting before a behaviour gets out of control.
Good luck!
Your quote makes me think of why I used to have to sent home "good" notes. We have to share the positives with parents, not just what their child does wrong. We don't want to hear only negative things, we need positives to keep us motivated and to uplift us on those not so good days!
Shevia,
I really like your quote and definitely agree with it. When I moved away and decided to work in childcare, my mother made many comments to me about how she wished I would pursue a teaching job. I always let her comments go in one ear and out the next, but deep down it kind of hurt me. Then one day I was talking to my brother and he mentioned something really nice that my mom had said about me and I remember being so shocked. My brother went on to tell me my mom talks about me to other people all the time and how proud she is of me. It was nice to hear that from my brother, but it would mean a lot more if I heard it from my mother.
You are welcome and if you come across any quotes please feel free to share.
