My support system is what gives me strength. If I did not have my mother I am not sure where I would be. My mother has encouraged me to strive and push even at times when I second guess myself. She is always there for me even when I do not believe in myself. Encouraging words is what is needed at times to fight in life. My mother believes in me and so far this has been all the support that I need from her and I am grateful. My mother also takes care of my son when I work late, or when I need some time off. This means a lot to me because with so much going on in the world, I choose who cares for my son wisely. If I did not have this support from her, I probably would not work full time or completed my undergraduate degree. Without the support that I receive from her I know that I would not have accomplished as much as I have.
A challenge that would cause me to alter everything in my life is not having anyone to assist me with my child. I would probably have to work part time and that income would not be sufficient enought. I would have extra expenses because I would probably have to pay for before and after care. I would also have more stress in my life and would not be able to focus on reaching my goals. It is difficult to work full time and take care of daily responsibilities as a single mother. My work schedule and my son's school schedule conflict and I am not able to drop him off, or pick him up. I am grateful that I have someone who I can trust to drop him off and pick him up. There are also after school activities that the school has in place which offers assistance in math, reading and homework help. Without these support I believe that things would fall apart for me.
